My Monument Search (2023-2024)

INTACH HECS organised a poster making competition “My Monument Search” this year. The topic was based on any lesser-known built heritage from your region or city. The competition requires students from classes 7-9 to make a poster on A3 size poster with a suitable slogan based on the selected topic and a 200 words write-up on A4 size paper. Around 12,000 students from 100 chapters and heritage clubs participated in the competition.

INTACH National Heritage Quiz 2023

INTACH’s Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) with the support from Xpressminds Edutainment and Cradel Solutions organized the INTACH National Heritage Quiz 2023- covering more than a 100 (118 cities) Chapters from across the country. Mr. Kunal Savarkar from Xpressminds Edutainment was the quiz master for the finals. The City rounds consisted of a preliminary written round followed by the zonal finals. The Zonal Winners travelled to New Delhi for the National Rounds which were held at INTACH, New Delhi. Schools from Kanpur, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Thrissur competed in the national finale. School from Amritsar was the national winner.

Khana Khazana: My Food Heritage (2022-2023)

HECS in collaboration with INTACH Chapters organised a national painting and essay writing competition on ‘Khana Khazana: My Food Heritage’. The competition required students from classes 7 to 9 to make a painting on A3 size paper and write an essay on A4 size paper in 300 words, with a suitable caption. The essay focused on the unique dish (its history, recipe and significance), the unique utensil (its origin, qualities and use), the person or cook (its story, uniqueness and recipe). Around 12000 students from 100 cities from across the country participated in the competition.

Nature in Danger – Care and Conserve My Project Report (2020-2021)

The competition required students from classes 7 to 9 to make a report of around 1500-2000 words on any one topic associated with nature, Saving water, Saving or planting trees; Energy conservation initiative; Recycling initiative; Promoting a traditional green practice; Water body cleanup initiative or any such topic related to natural heritage. Around 5000 students from 50 cities from across the country participated in the competition. The winners were given a special grant to follow up on the work that was done by them.

HECS in collaboration with INTACH Chapters organised a national painting and essay writing competition on ‘Gandhiji at 150’. The essay focused on Gandhiji’s contribution to Indian society, Gandhi’s contribution to heritage and culture; the painting focused on Gandhi’s association with Indian culture or any heritage site connected with Gandhi in their region. Around 12000 students from 100 cities from across the country participated in the competition.

Paani Ki Kahani- My Water Heritage Competition (2018-19)

In our effort to reach out to students across the country, HECS organises national level competition, in collaboration with INTACH Chapters. The PAANI KI KAHANI – MY WATER HERITAGE COMPETITION (2018-19) was an exercise in the same. Through the competition students were encouraged to write and paint about an interesting water heritage feature of their region. This can include any one of the following: a river, lake, coastal water body, heritage well/step well, canal, tank, temple tank (and other such sacred water bodies), etc. The competition was open to students of classes 6 to 9. Over 14000 students from 108 cities were part of this competition that sought to document through essays and paintings, the unique water heritage features of their region.

My City My Heritage

As part of INTACH’s National outreach programmes for schools across India, its Heritage Education and Communication Service (HECS) is conducting an essay (and painting) competition for students of classes 6-9. The students will document the heritage of their city which could be about a monument or building, place of worship, any vernacular architecture, flora, fauna, biodiversity park, festival, art and craft, custom and tradition, a living legend, etc. supported by a painting, photograph or a sketch. The timeline of project is from October 2016 to March 2017. They can write their essay in English, Hindi or any major local language of India. The national winners will get a chance to visit Delhi for an educational excursion. 70 chapters have already started with the preparations with the all the material being sent to them which includes posters and a grant of Rs.15000. Posters have been sent to all the heritage clubs too that are a part of INTACH.
